mbam 3.4.4.2398 crashed google chrome

Recommended Posts

This happened on windows 10 computers. Restarting the computer gave me a blue screen, scrolling points and a white cursor, in the end I succeeded to get it starting normally. I immediately uninstalled mbam and chrome was "normal" again. I did not have that happening on windows 7 but ..... the component update was : 1.0.4418, anyway I uninstalled mbam in order to avoid further problems. I was not able to even open malwarebytes to uncheck whatever protection.

Don't know but could it be the component update that is the culprit ?

Thanks. if you're willing to install 3.4.4 again and perform the follow testing, please do as we'll need this information to troubleshoot what's going on.

  1. Press the Windows Key to bring up your start menu
  2. Type view advanced system settings and click on the top option which should be named the same
  3. On the page that comes up, under the Startup and Recovery section, click on Settings...
  4. Near the bottom, in the Write debugging information section, change the first option to Complete Memory Dump
  5. The path below it should read %systemroot%\MEMORY.DMP
  6. Re-install Malwarebytes 3.4.4 and reproduce the issue
  7. Once the computer crashes and comes back up, you can disable Web Protection as this is most likely what's causing the issue
  8. Look for your crash dump in C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP and move it to your desktop
  9. Use wetransfer.com to upload the file and generate a download link
  10. Please post the download link here

@dcollins : thanks for your answer. I panicked when all this happened I really thought the laptop would never start again, the computer well this is an old one and recovered surprisingly after uninstalling malwarebytes.Going through this all again : no thanks.

Some time ago  there was a faulty update and again lots of time to recover. I'm a bit disappointed with malwarebytes continuous problems, I reverted to the 3.3.1 version with all protection enabled. The thing is the 3.4.4 version worked for .... about 3 days.

People at malwarebytes : please make a version that works for all systems, no more crashes !
