Windows 10 Malwarebytes freezes when running with opengl program

Recommended Posts

Dear Malwarebytes,
I have a windows 10 machine with the latest updates on it (latest was KB4088776 secruity update for windows). I need to use a piece of software for work which uses openGL and chrome for embedded. If malwarebytes is Quit, the program runs fine. if malwarebytes is running the whole system freezes up, including the task manager.
I really enjoy having the real time protection feature of malwarebytes which gives me a lot of peace of mind.
Please help me out here.
I've downgraded to Malwarebytes 3.1.x to try work around. the issue only happened after the latest malwarebytes update.
Is there anything I can do to get the latest malwarebytes working with my software?
details follow
Best regards
malwarebytes version
malwarebytes component package version 1.0.322
malwarebytes update package version 1.0.4376
I have run the FRST and mbcheck tools and attached the results.
I also tried "recovering lost scans" as per

Thanks for posting in the Malwarebytes 3 Help forum.

If you are having technical issues with our Windows product, please do the following:

If you haven't done so already, please run these two tools and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  • MB-Check
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

One of our experts will be able to assist you shortly.

okay I uninstalled the dodgy version. hopefully no harm done.

Google should really stop serving links to malicious sites at the top instead of serving your download page when searching for "malwarebytes old version". :(

it appears that there is no official link to the 3.3x version of malwarebytes. I'm going to have to completely uninstall. :(

thanks! is there anywhere that mwb publishes the sha-256 or md5 checksum of the old installers so we can verify the file?

No, however I checked it myself by downloading and extracting it.  It is legit and no additional files have been added to it.

Can you please go to the following link in the version of Chrome that locks up for you?

Then right click, Save As -> Complete Webpage and upload the HTML file that gets saved? You may have to zip it as some extensions aren't allowed.
