prombamuser Posted March 8, 2018 ID:1222542 Share Posted March 8, 2018 I received the 3.4 version update. Everything seems to be running fine. I do have a complaint though; I get a notification when a schedule scan has completed. I don't think this is necessary, if the system is clean. I remember this was happening in v3.0 or 3.1 (i believe).

exile360 Posted March 8, 2018 ID:1222577 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Thanks guys, I'll see to it that this gets reported to the Product team so that they can get it fixed in the next release.
Root Admin AdvancedSetup Posted March 8, 2018 Root Admin ID:1222579 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Must be something more going on here. I'm not getting any alert on my scans. I'll check with the team and see what's up. Are you getting this alert too @exile360
exile360 Posted March 8, 2018 ID:1222580 Share Posted March 8, 2018 I don't have any scheduled scans configured so no, I haven't gotten any alerts. I'll test it out to see if I can replicate the issue though.
exile360 Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222610 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I just tested and found the same issue reported by the customer above. Upon completion of a scheduled scan I got a notification from the tray stating that it completed and that no threats were found. I used the default settings except I enabled rootkit scanning and configured it to quarantine threats automatically. I'll test with all defaults next to see if it behaves the same. I'm on 7x64 SP1, fully patched.
exile360 Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222612 Share Posted March 9, 2018 After testing again, this time with the options for rootkit scanning disabled as well the quarantine threats automatically setting disabled there was no tray notification. I believe it is the quarantine setting causing this. Can you guys please confirm? Are your scheduled scans configured to quarantine detected threats automatically, and if so, if you edit the scheduled scan to disable this setting, does it eliminate the notification? exile360 Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222613 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I just tested once more, this time with only the quarantine setting enabled with everything else set to defaults and it did indeed once more display the tray notification once the scan completed. Access Denied Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222617 Share Posted March 9, 2018 I created a scheduled scan just for testing. I left it default settings. It did show a notification when it finished. I am never awake when the regular scan works so I would never notice it.
Max-H Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222680 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Same here, default settings. Notification every day at 11:01am (scan time 11am).
Staff Solution bdubrow Posted March 9, 2018 Staff Solution ID:1222703 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Hi all-- I just wanted to confirm that it is actually expected to see this notification after a schedule scan even if there were no detections, but there's been a bug that has kept it from displaying properly in the last couple releases. We plan to eventually have this notification honor the "Show Malwarebytes notification in the Windows System Tray" setting in Application Settings. That way you can control whether it's displayed or not. But since it auto-dismisses now after a couple seconds hopefully it's not too disruptive. I know other users appreciate seeing this notification occasionally, as they like the confirmation their system is clean. Thanks for the feedback on the issue! Max-H Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222706 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Personally I do appreciate the way it tells me that the scan didn't find anything. It's also a heads up that MWB is working
Access Denied Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222709 Share Posted March 9, 2018 (edited) Also I would like to add, if you don't want the notification of a scheduled scan to annoy you, just set it for a time you are sleeping always. I have mine set like that and if anything that needs my attention is found, I see it next time I am on the PC. EDIT: That is if you leave your PC on all the time. If you work on it, maybe set it for your break time or lunch time, that way it will be done by the time you return. Firefox Posted March 9, 2018 ID:1222803 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Personally on my scheduled scans I do not enable auto quarantine, been burned to many times with false positives. I want a report and I want to see what it wants to quarantine and make the choice myself as to whether I want to allow it to delete files or not.
