Malwarebytes version for Mac 9.1.3

I am looking for a version of Malwarebytes that is compatable with Mac 9.1.3. Can you please send me a link thanks very much

There has never been a Mac OS 9.1.3 so you must be using something else. The current version runs on macOS 10.10 and above. Are you using a system lower than that?

I am using Version 9.1.3 (Safari). I am using a system lower than 10.10 . I use a version of QuickBooks and I can not upgrade the OS as my QuickBooks is not comparable

Click on the Apple menu at the far left of the menubar and select "About This Mac" to see what system you are running. Since you are using Safari 9.1.3, then I suspect it's OS X 10.9.x Mavericks. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware v1.3.1 will work with your system, but it's no longer available from the link I have. You can try v1.2.4 which should work until someone from Malwarebytes checks in.

Ok thanks! I am using OS X Version 10.9.5. Yesterday when I was at Apple they told me that the Malwarebytes version was no longer available for my system. If you can give me the link to a comparable version I would appreciate it and then I can go back to Apple and have them download and fix it for me. - thanks very much

I gave you the link to v1.2.4 above that should work for now and perhaps somebody from Malwarebytes can give you a new link to v1.3.1 later on.

Yup, 1.3.1 would be much better than 1.2.4, which really can't detect everything 1.3.1 can. You can find 1.3.1 here:

However, it's important to note that, at this point, there are vulnerabilities that have not been fixed in every version of macOS older than 10.11... and there are some things that do not appear to have been fixed, as far as I can tell, in anything older than 10.12.6. Keeping your system and all your software up-to-date is a critical part of keeping your system secure.

When you use an older, vulnerable system, you cannot be guaranteed safety. In particular, when you're using an old enough system that you have to run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.3.1 or older, you cannot assume that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will protect you. Although it will detect infections after-the-fact, it does not provide any kind of proactive protection against threats as do newer versions of the software.

When I go to certain sites I am getting a box that pops up at wants to redirect  to stags.bluekai and sometimes s7.addthis.com . It happens sometimes when I go on Ebay.com,  trulia.com and other sites. Will this 1.3.1 be able to remove this? When was the end life or last time 1.3.1 was updated? A senior genius tech who teaches at Apple went deep into the history but could not find stages.bluekai

I'd have to guess there's a good chance that 1.3.1 will be able to stop these re-directs as those appear to be common, but you really need to run it first to see if it finds anything.

As I recall, v1.3.1 was released last September but is still receiving updates to it's database (most but not all that are available for version 3.x.x).

I went on Apple discussion and within the past week there are over 300 complaints regarding the same problem. Someone mentioned that they tried 1.3.1 and they are still having the same problem. One of the responses on Apple discussion was interesting and here it is below:

 

stags.bluekai.com is not a virus or an ad popup so all the usual suggestions will not work. It is an adserver that certain websites, including eBay, link to. Because the version of Safari on Mavericks 10.9.x is outdated, the security certificates that allow it to link to certain sites have expired and Apple is not renewing them. Apple wants you to update to its newest version of macOS. That message that keeps popping up is Safari warning you that its certificate for stags.bluekai.com is out of date and it will appear everytime you go onto eBay and other sites that link to stags.bluekai.com.

 

You have two choices: Either you update to at least Yosemite (10.10) with a more up to date and supported version of Safari or you stop using Safari as your browser and use Firefox or Chrome instead. All the other messing about with Malwarebytes etc is a waste of time.

Thanks for the feedback. That all sounds correct and reminds me of why I abandoned Mavericks completely several months ago.

As you've found, there is a problem with Mac OS X 10.9 where certificates are not able to be verified by Safari for certain sites. Sites owned by Oracle - which includes stags.bluekai.com - are among those affected.

You've got a couple choices. One appears to be to use any other system. Mac OS X 10.10 is not affected... and, strangely, neither is 10.8. Just 10.9.x. Or, use a different browser, such as Firefox or Chrome.

I realize that you've found all this, but I've seen some folks so far today expressing extreme skepticism, so I wanted to confirm that this information is verifiably correct. I don't yet understand what the error is in 10.9, but I have confirmed it myself, on a clean 10.9 system.
