Help with Malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

As of about 09:30 Central, multiple BSOD (Bug Code NDIS Driver) and then saw MalwareBytes (Premium) Realtime Protection unable to turn on. Unable to use browsers and machine keep locking up (Win10 home 64). Finally had to disconnect from internet upon restart of computer and then was able to uninstall MalwareBytes to get my computer functioning at all. What's the deal?

As of sometime about 09:30 Central, suddenly got multiple BSOD (Bug Code NDIS Driver) and then saw MalwareBytes (Premium) Realtime Protection unable to turn on. Unable to change settings. Unable to use browsers and machine keep locking up (Win10 home 64). Finally had to disconnect from internet quickly upon restart of computer and then was able to uninstall MalwareBytes to get my computer functioning at all. All is fine without Malwarebytes. Waiting for solution before I re-install. Frustrating!

Finally after uninstall & reinstall yesterday (Malwarebytes Premium on W10Home64), my computer is working well again (as opposed to multiple BSOD yesterday), however Windows Defender Security Center now has red X and says "Malwarebytes is off and your device may be unprotected." Malwarebytes itself says it's up to date and OK. Anyone know what that's about? Never had the red X before....

Thank you. That worked. Seems strange that I didn't need to change that setting previously-- using this computer (and MWB) for 18 months...

You usually don't have too.  It seems to cause issues when someone/something disables Defender, Malwarebytes takes over in the action center and Defender thinks that MB is the primary AV and gets disabled. Same way Defender is disabled when you install any other 3rd party AV.
