Real time Web Protection turns off by self/won't turn on

Recommended Posts

Tried to update old thread, but it was closed so I'll make a new one.

This on an old Dell D630 laptop with T8300, 4G memory, and Win7 64-bit.

Yesterday MWB3 started turning off Web Protection by itself - I think it happened a while after updates (updates are automatic/current.. was v3.3.something).   I'd been noticing a slowdown (lots of "not responding" hangups loading multiple pages with Firefox), and when disabled notification showed on tray icon, the computer couldn't be used - saw MWB3 was using over 3.5G of 4G memory with 97% CPU time.  Checked for viruses, malware in safe mode (which still worked fine) but nothing cleared it.

Found the other thread about this (pasted below), but didn't want to use mbam-clean yet, so just removed MWB3 using Win 7 control panel in safe mode and reloaded MWB3 in normal mode with only MSE for protection (no other virus/malware apps installed) .  Came back fine with premium (didn't have to reenter key, etc) and after 24 hrs is still okay.  This fix only took about 5 minutes.

Thanks for your update,I am glad it worked for you.  But for others reading, Many times the license becomes invalid and then you have to deal with the help desk to get it reset. That can take days to resolve . The Clean tool was designed to PRESERVE and auto install the key and activation.

Am having same issue with web protection - and keep getting this pop up saying one or more Real-Time Protection layers turned off but the web protection will not stay on.

:welcome:

The latest download from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3 has the fixed database in it

Download and Run the installer on top of your existing product. You don't need to uninstall anything. Please restart the computer after the install.

Please let us know if that solves the issue

Thanks.

All I did was end task for the malwarebytes services in Processes under Task manager, then I as able to update to v1.0.3808. Had to end task a few times to get it to actually start working again after the update but now she's running fine. Hope that helps.
