DON'T UNINSTALL>>>> DISABLE MBAM SERVICE>> REBOOT

Recommended Posts

If you uninstall you will have to go through licensing again.

When it is fixed, just enable the service.

It is the weekend. Happy I don't have those call outs anymore ....Retired

If you haven't done so already, please run these two tools and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  • MB-Check
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

So, it kicked everyone down to the free version? I just tried to activate, but the activation button is grayed out.

Figured something was going on because both browsers I use are starting up very slow & acting goofy as stuff

Wait it out?

How do I disable it but not uninstall it to wait to be fixed?

KenW - Thanks for posting this.  But I'm not sure exactly what I'm supposed to do now to disable the service.  I have Malewarebytes running on my desktop and laptop.  I already uninstalled it from my laptop and I just shut down my desktop to avoid any future vulnerabilities there.  I'm new to issues like this and have two questions.

1 - What are the instructions to disable Malewarebytes now on my desktop?

2 - How long does it typically take for something like this to get fixed, and how will I know that it's fixed.

Not so sure I want to reinstall --- I couldn't just disable, it wouldn't let me disable. Do they test these updates before pushing? My son, a threat analyst, notified me to quickly get it off my system because of all of these problems. Desktop was sitting there with a low memory error we couldn't get around. My surface luckily had been in sleep mode so it wasn't to that point, but still couldn't disable. Went and un-installed on both. TG I didn't install MB on my android phone like I was thinking about this week and decided to wait until this weekend and check the forums to see what people thought about it.   Uninstalled. Debating on reinstall.

I feel so sorry for all the admins that are dealing with this right now on their enterprise networks.

too late, did uninstall, will re-install once fixed. The whole computer froze, got even a message : low in memory.

Got mbam installed on the computers since 2005 I guess, that's a long time ago, I have 4 pro licenses and yes I'm a bit disappointment with things going on lately. I suppose this will be fixed again and we will all be happy and hope it will never happen gain.Anyway have a nice weekend folks.

Hi Everyone,

We're aware of an issue with a protection update that shipped an hour ago that is causing all web traffic to be blocked and RAM usage to climb. We are triaging this right now with all hands on deck.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and are working hard to get a patch pushed out.

It's working fine on my laptop, just not the desktop. Mom's pc is slowing down ALOT so it might have a MBAM issue too

We're sorry you had issues with our program today. We've addressed the issue and here's what you need to do to fix it.

*** How to resolve / verify you have the fixed update package ***

  • Update package version 1.0.3803 or higher contains the fix
  • To resolve, simply reboot your machine. In some cases, a second or even third reboot may be needed.
  • To verify you have this update, go to Settings ->  About -> Update package version: 1.0.3803

To learn more about what happened, please go here:

If you continue to have issues or experience new ones, please start a new thread and we'll happily look into that for you.
