Do i have a RAT or something?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

So I was playing a game when suddenly the game started lagging like crazy. I close the game and decide to open up another game. The game crashes multiple times while I try to open I it. (that specific game has never crashed on me so kinda weird). My rightmost screen (i have 3) starts to flicker with white and black boxes. Moving the cursor around would make the boxes glitch around and do weird stuff. Shortly after that some of my programs crash and all 3 screens go black with a thin white border around them. When I clicked my mouse I would hear a very unfamiliar beeping sound (not a sound from windows or any other program I use).

I restart the PC and decide to scan my system fully with Malwarebytes. It scans around 450k files until Windows pops up with a message telling me there's a critical error and it has to shut down. The PC restarts, and when I get back to the desktop and open Malwarebytes, I have now been downgraded to the Free version of Malwarebytes. (wtf??)

I got some errors in Malwarebytes, one of them being "Cannot connect to the license server, check your internet connection" or something along those lines.

Anyone have any idea whats going on with my PC?

I have looked manually at several common places for RATs and other malware but haven't been able to find anything suspicious. I have also checked my running processes and haven't found anything either.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you haven't done so already, please run these two tools and then attach the logs in your next reply:

  • Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  • MB-Check
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

No. Bad update.

So a bad update has caused black and white boxes to flicker on my screen, my games to crash, my programs crashing, and a weird black screen with a weird unfamiliar beeping sound? Not to mention the downgrade of malware bytes from premium to free? The developer only mentions high ram usage?

What do you think high RAM usage does? It crashes your PC.

And your licence is unable to connect to the servers.

I am aware that high ram usage crashes your PC. High ram usage doesnt create flickering white and black boxes and make beeping sounds. Do you even read what im typing? lol
