If you haven't done so already, please run these two tools and then attach the logs in your next reply:

NOTE: The tools and the information obtained is safe and not harmful to your privacy or your computer, please allow the programs to run if blocked by your system.

  • Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  • MB-Check
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

Absolutely having the exact same problem. 2 machines running MB 3.3.1, both suddenly started leaking memory at precisely the same second, both memory usages grow out of control until they consume all available memory. Terming the source of the problem "MBAMService.exe" causes it to automatically restart and immediately leak again. Uninstalling this product until fixed, since it renders all machines it's running on unusable. Up to date on both machines, clean install tried, etc.

Describes exactly the problem I have with my computer running up to date malware bytes.

Same here in Holland. Several Windows-7 computers and 1 Windows-10 computer suddenly saying "not enough memory for this operation". Tried a few things, quitting Malwarebytes helped bringing memory use from ~90% (minutes after reboot) back to normal (~20%).

I'm from the Netherlands too.

Web protection disabled itself. It was always active on my computer.

Created an account just to confirm this, Same here (NL, Europe)
Suddenly webprotection got disabled, and after that It eats memory like crazy.
My 16 GB of ram fills up in an insane rate (MBAMService.exe) <-- see screenshot of my taskmanager, I blanked out everything except MBAM processes.
Once I hit "End process tree", it starts all over again, leaving Windows inoperable.

Closing malwarebytes ends the service, but you go on without the protection.

In my case: No it doesn't... It automatically starts up after closing every process in taskmanager. It's in an infinite "eat memory-close-startup-eat memory" loop

I am receiving phone calls from NUMEROUS clients that their PC are having "out of Memory errors" and PCs are crashing and/or running very slow!! Looks like a recent Malwarebytes update is the culprit.

This is affecting ALL OF MY CLIENTS (including my own computer) that are running Malwarebytes Premium. It ate up all 16GB of my system RAM in seconds crippling my computer. I could not use my machine until I uninstalled Malwarebytes.

Temporary solution from Reddit

"To prevent it from restarting, disable it from Services.

  1. Open the run prompt with WindowsKey + R
  2. Type in "services.msc" into Run
  3. Right click "Malwarebytes Service" and click Properties
  4. Change startup type to "Disabled"
  5. Right click and stop the service"

This has been happening to me too, exactly the same problem as described in this thread (England, United Kingdom). It starts out at a normal usage level and then climbs and climbs. I have 16GB of RAM and so far I have seen it climb to 12GB usage before I ended the Mawarbytes Service in Task Manager and the process started over again.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program too - no changes. Weirdly, I was unable to load content of emails (to confirm my Malwarebytes forum confirmation email)  whilst Malwarebytes was leaking memory, I ended to process and it instantly loaded.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon. The only fix so far seems to be uninstalling completely.

Edit: I am also getting the issue of Real-Time protection being turned off. When I go to turn it back on, it sits in a never ending state of trying to turn it back on.

Signed up to confirm this is also happening on my machine.

MBAM reached 28GB/32GB before the entire system eventually crashed. This has happened after reinstalling, restarting, etc.

At one point after reaching 28GB memory usage, tried to exit the application and the memory usage dropped down to 23GB but CPU usage spiked and the application hung.

Edit: MBAM has released a tweet acknowledging the Web Blocking and RAM issues.
