Same things here. Web protection won't turn on and pc crashes all the time. :(

Uninstall malware bytes, one of the applicational process services is fcuked up, it will just use more and more system memory overtime until your system will lock up and or crash.

It's a fix.

Wouldn't go so far as to call it crap. It has saved my online life many times.
Update.. I had to uninstall my premium MB. I caused my browsers and win10 to crash.. Got no ugly reports from  windows defender, and have not downloaded anything harmful.
But what now ?

Is there a utility to remove the registry keys from the app also ? Better to have a clean install. My codes are saved somewhere so I can always activate it again. :-)
I will start virtualbox with windows 10 insider and see if it works there. Yeah, I used a license there also. got 3 of those :-)

Update.. Mbam works fine on virtualbox with win 10 insider build 17074. Hmm

Happening to me since mid morning EST. Windows 10 64 bit, Windows Defender.  Reinstalled V3.3.1 over existing version and rebooted several times.  Keeps happening.  Also, I have MB running as Administrator.

Seems to be a server fault on their side. Guess that it won't be fixed now since it is weekend.. Haven't happened to me before..  Will try to install it again later. Mbam I guess is running as a service (with SYSTEM rights) and should not be running as adm. You should not have to worry about privileges

I am having the same problem suddenly. Also, the CPU usage has more than doubled from normal operation. It seems to be trying to restart real time protections.

Hi Everyone,

We're aware of an issue with a protection update that shipped an hour ago that is causing all web traffic to be blocked and RAM usage to climb. We are triaging this right now with all hands on deck.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and are working hard to get a patch pushed out.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION?

I stopped the application with Task Manager, uninstalled it, then ran MB-Clean (see link at bottom of post), rebooted, reinstalled and everything seems OK now. Web Protection working, no high CPU or memory usage. FYI I am running Widows Defender and Acronis Active Protection.

When you release an update which causes your software to have a memory leak that caps out at system capacity then yeah you have a piece of crap software and your developers are just as crappy for failing to test it.

memory leak leading to system crash = dangerous, people can lose work, some hardware can even brick as a result, ocz series ssd's are famous for this.

As long as you use microsoft security essentials you have good realtime protection, just a shame mb screwed up and have failed to fix numerous issues over the last year.

Just came here after same issue. What is happening? Is there a fix?

One has to question the testing process and cycle.

Especially as it's not the first time this has occurred.

Just killed Mbamservice.exe and since it restarted (a few minutes ago) it has been running OK without any errors, high CPU usage or RAM usage.  Fingers crossed.

As an alternate solution until they fix it, you can always rename the MBAMService.exe file; I simply add "-old" (without quotes) to the end of the filename.  This will keep it from running again after you've closed it without needing to uninstall.

Then, once the patch is available, you can put the filename back to what it was and run the update...

However, if you don't have an indpendent AV program with a firewall (Avast, Kaspersky, etc.) as well, you should probably uninstall, MB-clean and reinstall.

Click on the top line "respinoza created a topic in Malwarebytes 3" and you get to a page where he MB Clean link is halfway down. It won't allow me to post the link without producing the picture...
