Sorry for taking so long.

The best method to determine such would be by looking at your firewall logs.

Thanks. FYI: I resolved the issue by uninstalling AVG Free, installing the free Avast! and letting it scan on bootup. It found and removed 3 instances of Win32:Alureon-CM (which AVG had failed to detect). No more IP alerts.
