I've been using Malwarebytes for quite a while now and it was only in the last few days that I abruptly started having the same problem. Notifications that the web protection was off suddenly kept popping up but but every time I tried to turn the protection on, it just turned itself back off again. Yes, I had the very latest build. No, I don't use Norton - just Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. The re-install seems to have solved the problem though. My web protection is back on so now let's just hope it stays that way.
