I am running Malwarebytes Premium version 3.1.2.1733 on Windows 7-64, with MS Security Essentials.  Twice in the last month, MB has shown up with Web Protection turned off, and will not turn back on.  I have twice uninstalled MB, run MB Cleaner, & reinstalled MB.  The second time was today and so far, it is running OK.  Should I follow your instructions above?  Thanks!

Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues....

  1. FIRST: Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
  2. Download FRST and save it to your desktop. Tell any program that blocks it to ignore or allow. It IS SAFE. It contains no info that can identify or harm you.
  3. NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  4. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  5. Press the "Scan" button
  6. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
NOTE: These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you
  7. NEXT: Create and obtain an mb-check log
  8. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  9. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
  10. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
  11. Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

Ok, folks, I am finally back to this problem.  When the latest update, version 3.3.1.283, to MB came out, I installed it, and the problem went away.  Just yesterday, the Web Protection went off again, and will not turn on.  So I have followed your instructions for running FRST, and have attached the logs below for your analysis.

Thanks for your help!

Hey, Firefox!  Thanks for the tip.  I downloaded & installed the new MB version, and so far it is running just fine.  Time will tell.

Good Work!

Glad to hear it... is it still working for you now?

Yes, Firefox, it is working just fine with the new MB.  That is what happened the last time I updated, so only time will tell whether this new version has outgrown that problem.  I just ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner, and it ran clean.  I ran it to check for another potential problem.  The Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool always shows four infections, but when it finishes, it says there was nothing detected or fixed.  My other PC (a 32 bit) runs MRT clean.  This 64 bit machine has never completely recovered from upgrading (???) to Win 10, then reverting to Win 7!  (Windows 10 and I are completely incompatible!  ;^)  Sfc & ChkDsk both run clean.  I also, finally, got my Task Scheduler repaired by using RepairTask, so I am making progress.  Thanks again for your help!
