tally129 Posted January 4, 2018 ID:1196701 Share Posted January 4, 2018 I just bought this new software, but I had an older version. Now my computer scan takes just 3 minutes. I have 2 GB on my hard drive. what is wrong. I have looked for settings to change, but i do not see anything. When i have used in the past, it just did the scan and that was that. Now, do i have to set something special up for it to scan my whole computer?

The scan targets the locations that malware lives. If you really want to scan the whole drive be ready for a long scan and performance of your computer will drop drastically see below. I assume the performance drop is just while the custom scan is running? i also assume speed of scan depends on the size of what your scanning as well as the pc itself ie a scan on a new fast pc will be quicker then on a old slow pc with exactly the same data Edited January 5, 2018 by Arsenal123

MB is designed to max out the CPU of the pc during manual scans to speed up scanning time. The threat scan you ran is more than enough since MB is not a full av program and does not scan the same files as an AV.
dcollins Posted January 8, 2018 ID:1197843 Share Posted January 8, 2018 Everything Porthos mentioned is spot on. That being said, if you want the scan to use less resources, you can go to Settings -> Applications and change the Impact of Scans on System option. Note that this will make your scans take longer.
