Malwarebytes Premium 3.3.1 blocking 255.255.255.255

Recommended Posts

As if this morning, Malwarebytes Premium 3.3.1 is continually blocking 255.255.255.255 on my PC and referencing dropbox.exe. I verified that my database updates are current. I've scanned the system just to be sure. I've closed and reopened Malwarebytes with no effect. The only thing that stops the message from constantly popping up is to add an exclusion for 255.255.255.255. I've attached the MB-Check results zip file.

The website-blocked log looks like this.

The problem turned out not to be McAfee but Emsisoft. What happened is recently I began getting one of those malware popups in Firefox saying I had a virus and telling me to call some number. A full scan by Malwarebytes and by McAfee both found nothing. The popups kept coming randomly. I decided to try a free trial of Emsisoft, and they warn that running other similar programs concurrently could cause problems. Well, despite that, all seemed fine the first week--and I stopped getting the random fake message popup. But then the blocking message for 255.255.255.255 started suddenly appearing over and over. So anyway I uninstalled Emsisoft and the problem appears to be solved.
