Install application updates

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have " Automatically download and install application component updates" selected, however every time I click on "Install application updates" button, something is being downloaded in installed.

Why is not this done automatically, as long as "  Automatically download and install application component updates" is selected???

Those updates do not come out often and are metered. What component version are you do you have now? That button will override the metering to force the update.

Porthos, what do you mean by "metered" and why do we have to force an update?  Should the software auto update to the newest version if we set "auto update"?  And you will note from my other posts - why do we have to manually update to clear up problems with older versions (3.2.2)?  I'm paying for this?

The time to wait for updates is not static. We provide updates at a rate of X computers per hour usually where X can be any number. So it's hard to say exactly how long you'll have to wait for a program update to come through.

We stage program updates for a variety of reasons, but one of the key reasons is to make sure the update process goes smoothly for users. It's much easier to turn off updates in case something goes wrong than try to help a mass amount of users roll back.

Anyway, my question about "metered" applies to this string, not the other strings...

We want people to start their own topics and not post in other peoples topics.  Each computer is different and what is happening to one might not be exactly the same as the other.

Even getting updates can be computer specific and not the same issue on each.
