Netgear Command Processor popup

Recommended Posts

Hi, Everyone.

Lately I have been having slow internet. I looked at my Netgear Router (R6300v2) Genie desktop app and when I click on certain things I get a popup asking me if I want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer.

Program name:  Windows Command Processor
Verified Publisher: Microsoft windows

Program location:  "C:\windows\sysWOW64\cmd.exe" /k sc start NETGEARGenieDaemon

I have malwarebytes premium and have ran a threat scan and a full scan and it found nothing. It is version 3.3.1

I have bitdefender Totoal Security 2018. It hasn't found anything, on any scans.

I downloaded FARBAR and ran a scan.

I don't know why its doing this.

On my router, when I saw it was doing this, asking me to make changes to my computer, I downloaded the most recent firmware for my router.

I attached a picture of the pop up, and uploaded the FARBAR results.

If anyone can help, please let me know.

I don't have or use a Netgear router but looking at the process you can click the "Show information about the publisher's certificate" to verify (I'm sure it's legit from Netgear)

It looks like it's trying to install a service to monitor. Create a new System Restore Point and then let it add it. My guess is that it will not ask again.
