Keyboard and Mouse not working

Recommended Posts

During a scan with Malwarebytes yesterday, it located a number of PUPs and other problems. After this scan, I quarantined all the results and restarted my computer as requested.

Once ny computer had rebooted, I noticed that both my keyboard and mouse were no longer responsive, meaning I have no way to access anything.

Moving the USB plugs to other ports gas done nothing.

During my attempts to find a solution, I have discovered that the keyboard and mouse function during the boot-up processes, and I can still access the Bios menu. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a look at the system restore, and it says no restore points have been created, so I assume the automatic creation of restore points was turned off (I'm turning it on as soon as get back on, as I didn't turn it off). Now, I am wondering about the reinstallation of Windows, and, since that will reset the drivers, will hopefully solve the problem? Also, what will happen to data on other drives, and if it is possible to recover data lost during the reinstall process?
