Hello malwarebytes, I have been a long time user of your software, though I rarely use windows.. anyhow I recently pulled my windows install drive out of the closet and booted it up. I am having some malware issues including multiple infections from trojan/rat

below is a explanation of what i have done. but for the tldr I included the mbam_clean, mbam-check, and frst

after quite a few updates I noticed several things, the most distrubing of which is that I cannot install malwarebytes. I get a error 5. to do with lacking permissions. I have right clicked run as admin on the installer but that did not help.

Actually I assumed this meant my system was compromised. windows defender didnt show me any issues..

I read a few forum posts from users with a similar problem, and tried mbam_clean and mbam_check tools. to no avail however

eventually I tried bitdefender which, did install and during its scan it triggered windows defender to recognize "xrat.ac" severe.. I let windows defender remove that threat. and restarted

next since I tried a portable scanning solution something rated on pcmag called emsisoft emergency kit. 'eek' according to eek it found Trojan.Win32.Buzus.A

 and Trojan.Win32.Injector.A

using the 'eek' software I removed these threats.

next

I went ahead and did a full bitdefender scan since that was the only antivirus I could manage to install.. and rebooted.
