windows 10 fall creators update

Recommended Posts

I recently had the fall creators update installed. IE 11 won't open unless I run it as administrator. Turning off Exploit Protection in MB allows IE to open. I know there's been problems in the past, but I haven't seen any solutions.

BTW, I'm currently running MB ver. 3.3.1.2183, component package 1.0.262, update package 1.0.3567.

I've uninstalled MB and installed the latest version - no luck. Restoring the previous version of windows allows IE to open.

No. I had no problems with IE 11 or MB.

Lets install MB over the current install first.Be sure your browsers are closed during the install.

Download the latest build from https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb3

Run the new installer on top of your existing product. You don't need to uninstall anything. Restart the computer.

If that does not Fix the issue we need to do a clean install.

We have another tool called MB-Clean which will automate the whole process for you.

Tool can be found at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean

1. After downloading the tool run the tool.

2. The tool will automatically clean up the older possibly damaged installation and will ask you for a restart.

3. Restart your system and then the MB-Clean tool will prompt you to re-install the latest product .

4. Click on "Yes" to reinstall MB 3.×.

5. Now you will have the latest product installed. If it does not offer the new install after the reboot you can download and install from here.

Please let me know if you are still seeing issues after the latest product install.

Let's try a few things if you don't mind.

First off, can you disable/remove your AdBlock program to see if the issue goes away?

If that doesn't work, can you go into Settings -> Protection, click on Advanced Settings and disable both Anti-Heapspraying Enforcement and Dynamic Anti-Heapspraying Enforcement for browsers to see if the issue goes away?

Thought I figured it out. I restored windows to the previous build. I used MB-Cleaner to remove MB. Reinstalled fall creators update. Reinstalled the latest MB version.

While MB was running its initial scan, I was able to open IE 11. After the scan, I'm back to where I was - either open IE as administrator or turn off exploit protection in MB. Any more suggestions?

Can you get a new set of logs after disabling the anti-heap spraying? To be clear, here's what I'm looking for:

  1. Open MB3
  2. Go to Settings -> Protection -> Advanced Settings
  3. Disable Anti-Heapspraying Enforcement and Dynamic Anti-Heapspraying Enforcement for browsers
  4. Attempt to open Internet Explorer normally
  5. Once it fails, run mb-check and upload the new zip file
