I have tried numerous times to install the latest version of malwarebytes but it won't install. (mb3-setup-consumer-3.3.1.2183-1.0.262-1.0.3374 ) It starts to install and then it says I have to "restart windows to finish the install". I restart windows and the program is not installed. The "install setup" appears and I start to install again, and I get the same message to restart windows to finish. It does this over and over, and seems to be stuck in some kind of a loop.

I have used malwarebytes for years and have never had a problem installing before. I attached a screenshot. Please try to help. Thank you.

I've had it for years and now feel naked and vulnerable without it

Thanks, please perform the following:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run Dialog
  2. In the window, type regedit and click Ok
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
  4. Delete the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware_is1 key on the left side
  5. Close Regedit and attempt to reinstall

I did the Regedit and the first time I tried to install Malwarebytes it didn't work. Then I restarted Windows and tried the install and it did work fine. Maybe if someone else has the same issue, you should add a sixth step to the instructions to restart windows. Thanks a lot for your help.

Could you please tell me what may have caused Malwarebytes to disappear from my computer in the first place? So I can attempt to prevent it from happening again.

Would not surprise me if Advanced System Care 10 did it since Malwarebytes detects them. Or since you were using Ver 2 of Malwarebytes, The upgrade might of failed.

Noted. My bad, I just used one of the responses that I had noted for another user. Just forgot that everyone does not know to restart after messing with the registry. (It happens when you are a tech for so long)

Glad it is working now. :)

Yeah I don't think the average person like me does much registry editing to begin with. Thanks again for all  your help!
