MB won't start real time protection

Recommended Posts

:welcome:

Please let us know right away the Brand-name of antivirus on this machine.  Is it McAfee, TrendMicro, Norton / Symantec, Security Essentials, Avast, BitDefender,  Kaspersky, or some other brand, which one exactly?
The antivirus may well be silently ( but innocently )  interfering with our real-time web  protection functions.

We do need to get reports from your PC in order to see what had happened.

  1. Please get & SAVE Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)   and later run it to get logs
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  2. Create and obtain an mb-check log
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

Hi,

I had really wanted to see the MB-Check zip report file as well.    We are likely to need to review that.   So, please at minimum do run MB-CHECK.

This pc has Kaspersky installed, so it is worthwhile to review it and be sure it has the adjustments that are needed, such that it treats Malwarebytes as a trusted application.
*+Kaspersky antivirus /3rd party firewall+:*
To set exclusions for Malwarebytes in Kaspersky please do the following:

# Open Kaspersky
# Click the Settings button on the bottom left (looks like a cog/gear)
# Click *Additional*
# Click *Threats and Exclusions*
# Click *Trusted applications*

.
.

# In the new window that pop up click *Add* at the bottom right
# Under *File or folder* click *Browse*
# Navigate to the following folder (or your install location for Malwarebytes if it's different from the default location):
 C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes\Anti-Malware
# Click Select
# Make sure that ALL Protection components are selected and the Status is Active
# Click Continue on the Confirmation popup

As an add precaution you will also want to disable Advanced Disinfection.

.
.

.
.

# Open Kaspersky
# Click the Settings button on the bottom left (looks like a cog)
# Click *Additional*
# Click *Threats and Exclusions*
# *Uncheck* the box next to *Enable Advanced Disinfection technology*

When all done, use the Windows Start menu and do a Restart.

Your Kasperky trusted applications should look like this

After a windows Restart, and allowing system time to settle in, if the web protection or another of the real-time protections are not on, then, please run the 2 reports and kindly attach the MB-CHECK-results.ZIP file.
