WillG Posted December 8, 2017 ID:1190135 Share Posted December 8, 2017 I happened upon a site called AMTSO.org which is an anti malware standards testing site. It offers 6 tests to check the effectiveness of malware/phishing attempts. In every one of the test, Malwarebytes failed. It didn't prevent downloads of the test files (benign) which simulates malware and phishing. I currently subscribe to the premium version of this program. It kind of makes me wonder if I should be looking elsewhere for malware protection. Has anyone else had any experience with this?
Staff treed Posted December 8, 2017 Staff ID:1190180 Share Posted December 8, 2017 Those are artificial samples, and none of them are Mac samples. Throwing those on your hard drive somewhere is not in any way representative of a real-world scenario involving real Mac threats. Using that to decide whether to use Malwarebytes for Mac is kind of like trying to take a bite of the fake rubber display desserts at a restaurant and deciding whether to purchase dessert based on that experience.
