I hope I am in the correcrt place.

Good morning from England.

I went to do an update when Malaware instructed me this morning, and it has now disappeared completely from my computer. I went to control panel, checked all the programes and it is not there !!

It said it was downloading the update and a restart needed, which I said ok to..and when it restared, nothing is there at all.. what can I do please ??

I have Malawarebytes Premium

I have Windoes XP on my desktop, which I am using now, and I also have it on my laptop, windows 10.    I have just checked my laptoop, and that is all okay, and is up to date, but how do I get it back now on my desktop ???

I have just taken a screenshot of the only thing I have on Malwarebytes on my computer..and will attach it.

Please help me.

Many thanks

Alana

Please help me.

Can you try installing the latest 3.2.2.2018 over your existing product and let me know if that worked.

Just download the latest installer from : https://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mb3

Run the installer on top of your existing product. No need to uninstall.

Sorry for the delay... Firefox crashed on me.. now I am on Avast Safe Zone browser..

I am sure I had Ransonware on it when I last scanned, but I cannot afford to get another desktop computer now, but I do have my windows 10 on my laptop.

Thank you for your help, very much appreciated.

Kindest  regards

To get windows 7 on my desktop, that means I would have to buy a disc? is there any free download for windows 7?

Thank you for your help, very much appreciated.

There is no such thing as FREE Windows 7.

Over on this side of the pond, you can get a good Win 10 refurbished tower for about $150 US. I have one I ordered on my desk now.

I'd like to chime in - I am also using Windows XP SP3 and the latest Firefox

Everything worked perfectly all day then I decided to update Malwarebytes (premium) to the latest (it was recommending it). I rebooted. Once rebooted, Firefox would immediately crash upon opening. Opera crashed when clicking on any link. Pandora (Using Adobe Air) would not even open. However if I exit Malwarebytes everything works just fine. Run MWB again and programs crash left and right.

I jusr downloaded latest free  update as well = Malwarebytes also disappeared when my computer restarted = there is nothing to do with Malwarebytes anywhere anymore so nothing to install over...  what gives???  It was fine before I, as instructed, downloaded the latest free upgrade!!!

1. Download the latest MB 3 installer from : https://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mb3
2. Run the installer on top of your existing product. (Note you don't have to uninstall anything, just run the installer again)

Please let me know if that worked.

That worked!   Thank you!  Even though I think that was the latest version that you gave the link to, once install completed it still wanted me to download the latest free version, which I chose not to do as that is what I did before and it disappeared!

If things continue to go wrong don't forget to start a new thread.

Same thing happened to me yesterday with MWB disappearing, although I don't think it was related to the recommended update.

I downloaded an audio convertor and later in the day I noticed the "ByteFence Anti Malware" in my recently added list which wasn't there before. So I tried to open MWB to run a scan and it was gone, so I'm assuming BFAM had highjacked my PC through the audio convertor DL.

Anyway I have just followed Porthos's advice and it has worked. My MWB returned and after starting a scan it showed that almost 1600 threats were identified.

Alana,    I would try doing a System Restore.  If you're not sure how to do that, either do a search for instructions or click on the link.  Hopefully it has been enabled. You then need to select a restore point from the time BEFORE you updated MWB. Do not touch the computer while it is going through the procedure. This should take your PC back to a working machine.

I don't know what desktop PC you have but if it is capable of running either Windows 7 or Windows 10, then you can buy a licence key on Amazon for around £19. I don't know how they can be as cheap as this but they seem to be legit. For Windows 10, I have purchased 2 keys to convert to Windows 10 Pro---both from this seller.  You would need to download the Windows image and burn it to DVD but you could do that on your Laptop. Instructions are given as to how to do that in the accompanying email from the seller. Ensure you get the correct version--32bit or 64 bit depending on your desktop.

Hope that helps.

At those prices, they are not legit and I do not want to get into a debate as this is not the forum to get into Windows licensing issues.
