malwarebytes 3.3.1.2183 will not launch

Recommended Posts

R,

I am also not able to open the above version.  I'm using Win 7 sp1.  I've restarted the computer and downloaded 3.3.1.2183 several times with the same result.  Except one time I saw the opening screen flash for an instant...then it was gone.

I have been using the Premium version since Mar 2016 with no issues.

I tried downloading the FSTR file.  As soon as I click on "Download FSTR" my computer restarts.  I tried twice with the same result.

When I opened the Chrome browser I see a block with the message, "Restore Pages?  Chrome didn't shut down correctly".  When I click the RESTORE button I'm taken back to my gmail message titled "Malwarebytes Forums" .  That takes me to your instructions to collect log files via the FSTR program.

Not sure what to try next...

@Denn1

Could you try downloading FRST from the links located on our support page instead and see if you are to run it?

>> Try From Here <<

  1. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  2. Press the "Scan" button
  3. This will produce two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
    • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions

Also, be sure to get MB-Check logs after running FRST:

Create and obtain an mb-check log

  1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
  3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
    • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
    • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

I was able to download the file (FRST64) and it is on my desktop - when I click to open,  it displays a box ,

"User account Control, Do you want to allow the following program......"

                                                                     Program name:  FSTR.exe

                                                                     Publisher:  Unknown

File origin:  Downloaded from the Internet

                                                                                              yes      no

Then I click the yes box, 2 boxes flash on the screen for a second, then disappear.  One box was a disclaimer but I couldn't read the other box.

I tried this sequence twice..got the same result.  Making progress...previously when clicking on the FSTR file the computer would re-boot.

I ran "Spybot Search and Destroy" and it didn't turn up any issues.  Then I downloaded the free version of "AVG Antivirus", ran it, no virus or malware found.

I very much appreciate your effort and really want to get Malwarebytes back to working again.

It's Working!!!!

I found out how to start in safe Mode...when the desktop came up I clicked on the Malwarebytes icon on the desktop and it opened!...I ran a Scan and it found 7 issues (AVG didn't find these).
I've restarted the computer twice and still works!!
Thanks to you and others for all your effort to get me back and running Malwarebytes.  I also activated my key and identifier so Premium is working also!
It's good to know you guys are ready and able to help.
