ANOTHER Real Time Protection problem

Recommended Posts

I see I am not the only person that this has been a problem for. It's irritating and frustrating and if this does not help with the problem I am certain that Malwarebytes will NOT be NOT-protecting my computer from this point forward. This is the 3rd time the problem has reared it's ugly head. There needs to be a fix for this. A PERMANENT fix.  I've included the necessary data in the mb-check-results.zip file. So please tell me what I need to do to fix this... permanently.

Not trying to be rude, but what am I supposed to do with that info? I checked for an update and there wasn't one. Beta channel? Okay, maybe I'm just a newbie idiot but I've no clue as to how to access or what the beta channel even is. I included my zip file because as I was reading through, it was requested in multiple threads. But what you are telling me means nothing. Pretend I've never used a computer before and explain it that way, please.

I am running an older computer with recently re-installed XP Home SP3 and have the latest version of Malwarebytes Premium Trial. Automatic Updates are on but the  problem with Protection turning itself off started just this morning. I also found my home page had been changed to GMX International, which I have never heard of, instead of Google.

Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues....

  1. FIRST: Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
  2. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  3. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  4. Press the "Scan" button
  5. This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
NOTE: These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you
  6. NEXT: Create and obtain an mb-check log
  7. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  8. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
  9. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
  10. Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

I have Bitdefender Total Security 2018. I only JUST started using in this month. Prior to Bitdefender I was using Kaspersky and prior to that I was using McAfee. If I am remembering correctly, the problem has occurred while utilizing McAfee, Kaspersky, and Bitdefender. At the very least it was occurring as far back as Kaspersky.

I understand, however, why you are asking that I add these to my exclusion/exception list, so I have added the 13 files and 2 folders as you suggested. Should I expect this to fix the problem?

But the Real Time Protection is STILL not working.

Lets do a clean install of MB. After the clean install use the install application updates button again please to be sure you are on CU262.

We have another tool called MB-Clean which will automate the whole process for you.

Tool can be found at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean

1. After downloading the tool run the tool.

2. The tool will automatically clean up the older possibly damaged installation and will ask you for a restart.

3. Restart your system and then the MB-Clean tool will prompt you to re-install the latest product .

4. Click on "Yes" to reinstall MB 3.×.

5. Now you will have the latest product installed. If it does not offer the new install after the reboot you can download and install from here.
