Blocked Outbound IP address pop up

Recommended Posts

Hello
I keep getting pop up messages in both Chrome and Firefox, saying that a site or file is being detected as malicious. It instructs me to manage exclusions, but keeps popping up after I have added the files and web addresses into my exclusions.
I am attaching the pop ups and my exclusion window.
Please advise

Can you please try adding an IP exclusion for 255.255.255.255

That should possibly help resolve the issue.

Let me know if you need instructions on how to add IP exclusions within the MB 3.x product.

What's going on with MALWAREBYTES.

I'm getting this 255.255.255.255 BLOCKED outgoing websites every off & on starting  a while ago.

First, we had the SS.SYMCD.com one with different prefixes a few days ago now this.

What to do?

Go on Social media?

Steve

Same issue with the pop-up...is adding 255.255.255.255 just a bandand or will there be a real fix for this?

I'd also like to know the answer to this. This is apparently a problem for many of us!!

I started getting the same notice on the malwarebytes.com website and every other website I have used without previous alerts.

Just started happening here as well.

Best I could find out ....

255.255.255.255 is a special broadcast address, which means "this network": it lets you send a broadcast packet to the network you're connected to, without actually caring about its address; in this, is similar to 127.0.0.1, which is a virtual address meaning "local host". The broadcast address 255.255.255.255 is called Limited Broadcast commonly used by application like DHCP. Is it just a ping?

Adding the exclusion for 255.255.255.255 seemed to stop the MB popup, but is that just a stopgap cure?  Is that going to cripple something valid somewhere down the line?

We are aware of the issue and working on it as a priority.

For now adding the IP exclusion is a stop gap approach.

We just fixed the block for 255.255.255.255 via a new Database push.

You should be able to remove the exclusion for 255.255.255.255 and everything should work normally.

Can you please give it a try ?

Please make sure you have the latest DB update by clicking on the "Check for updates" link under Scan status tab.
