Dropbox detected as malware

Recommended Posts

I'm constantly getting a popup saying dropbox.exe is malicious. Same happens when launching plex server. I tried updating but same issue remains. Known problem?

Can you guys try adding the IP address to the exclusion list?

Exclude the 255.255.255.255 IP address.

Can you please let us know if that resolves the issue for now?

Adding IP address 255.255.255.255 to the exclusion list has stopped the popups every ~8 seconds - for now.

Just wanted to chime in, same thing is happening to me. I just turned off "Show Malwarebytes notifications in the Windows System Tray" until you guys fix this obvious problem.

It's going NUTs on my 3 computers!  Started at same time...

Exact same issue as above... I get the same "Website Blocked" as above leading to Dropbox.exe.

Every few it also pops up:

C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe

2017-11-20_15-02-20.png.391893754abe7f6d9cf03235c93edd80.png

This cycles every 35 seconds... It's going to force us to remove MB and this makes us less secure.

Added the exclusion and the popup has stopped.  What caused this problem to start happening  today?

Hello @cardician

Can you also add an  IP exclusion for 255.255.255.255

Which option under the exclusion list do we add this to?  I see file, folder, website, app, and previously detected. I haven't ever added one before. :-) TIA!

Yes, pausing Dropbox sync will stop the popup alerts, but then your files won't sync.

Malwarebytes needs to fix this issue so that it does not view Dropbox as malicious!!

I am also seeing the same error with the dropbox.exe.  And adding 255.255.255.255 as an exclusion stops the popup for me as well.

Looks like you guys are already working on it, thanks.

We just fixed the block for 255.255.255.255 via a new Database push.

You should be able to remove the exclusion for 255.255.255.255 and everything should work normally.

Can you please give it a try ?

Negative - just came back up after ~1-2 min unblocked on update package 1.0.3305.

Edit: Tested against the drobox, not user: GroundHogDay's svchost.exe 255.255.255.255 issue as I was not experiencing that one.
