PUP issue, need advice

Recommended Posts

Hey guys been a Malwarebytes user for some time now and im having an issue that im not sure what it is. I read its a False positive and some say i need to fix it. Here are some logs i ran with FRST64 and the MB file. It called PUP.Optional.Astromenda

I have been told its a google apps issue and i have tried many things to get rid of it but it keeps repopulating somehow with and without sync enabled on the google settings.

Thanks for your time and hope to hear back soon..

Kevinf80 ty for the reply, looks like the guide from Miekiemoes [ sticky ] has fixed the issue in the first step of the guide. Since then i have run multi scans with all being 0 infections. one question though, was this PUP a big issue and anything i would have needed to worry about?

Yes that PUP hijacks your default home page, it will cause problems for you.. This is a quote from Malwaretips:

Quote

Astromenda.com homepage will display advertisements and sponsored links in your search results, and may collect search terms from your search queries. The Astromenda Search hijack is used to boost advertising revenue, as in the use of blackhat SEO, to inflate a site’s page ranking in search results.

Good to hear that @miekiemoes guide helped you remove that unwanted hijacker...
