Recommended Posts

Hello, I also have this infection that won't go away. It keeps on re-appearing after each scan by Malwarebytes. I did not install or remember having contact with Ask.

Can you help please? SON.

Result of todays scan, PUP.Optional.ASK, C:\USERS\JOHNK\APPDATA\LOCAL\GOOGLE\CHROME\USER DATA\DEFAULT\Web Data, Replaced, [527], [454823],1.0.3231

Thanks for reply Aura but this fix has not worked. I tried this a couple of days ago and again twice to-night but no joy.

The Reset Sync button doesn't turn blue and this message at bottom; "Your account seems to be empty. To start using sync, sign into your Chrome browser."

I have signed in to Chrome browser and Google even got me to download Chrome again.

Also is it unsafe to use computer for banking with this infection? Or is it just with Chrome which is not my main browser.

It isn't unsafe since it is just a PUP, so your data isn't compromised.

Even though the step is listed as optional, did you remove every item under "Other search engines" in Google Chrome, or not?
