Setting/Exclusions contain surprises

Recommended Posts

When the apparent error in flagging a website just popped up, referencing "exclusions", I went, for the first time, to that tab. To my suprise, there were two IP addresses there; I did not mark them for exclusion from detection.  One of them is/was 58.218.200.111, and I removed  it from the list, because a search reveals it is from China: https://www.iplocationtools.com/58.218.200.111.html. I inadvertently removed the second mysterious address from the exclusion list before recording it completely.  What is going on here?  How can Malwarebytes allow these exclusions to be entered, and how can this be prevented from recurring?

Most likely what happened is the notification was clicked on in an older version of Malwarebytes and carried over through an upgrade. In our older version the notifications had "add to exclusions" button as soon as something was picked up.

In our current version we changed gears a bit to avoid these kinds of accidents and now take you to exclusions list instead (no longer have the ability to add to exclusions from the initial notification), so a user has to invest more thought into adding an exclusion. This new process helps prevent accidental addition of malicious IP's and websites to the exclusion list.
