is adware.Elex.ShrtCln dangerous?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering if I need to change all my passwords after this or is this not as serious as malwarebytes is making it out to be? I deleted all my other search engines which seemed to mostly fix it however I still have one instance of this but I'll probably find a way to get rid of it

I'm just wondering how serious this is like what has it/could it have done?

Thanks

Hi jgkilian :)

Follow the instructions in the thread below, you might have one remnant left in your settings.

And a PUP detection isn't that malicious. Your passwords won't be compromised, stolen or else. Otherwise the threat name would be much more severe.

It's being marked as malware though but I dont understand how search engines or synced data can be malware, I changed the name of my secure preferences file so it had to generate a new one then I rescan and nothing bad but then when I synced chrome it came back, I'm just wondering if its serious because I dont really want to reset my sync data and lose everything :(
