Hello! I'm experiencing the same problem from this thread https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/201134-cant-install-malwarebytes-this-app-has-been-blocked-for-your-protection/

I have read the thread and followed the instruction up until the deletion of the contents of Temp folder and still the same result.

I would like to have some help since following it blindly might result in a more complicated problem.

  • KoreanTea changed the title to Also can't install Malwarebyte

:welcome:

Hi KoreanTea,

We do need to get reports from your PC in order to see what had happened.

  1. Please get & SAVE Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)   and later run it to get logs
    1. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
    2. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
    3. Press the "Scan" button
    4. This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
      • Leave the log files in the current location, they will be automatically collected by mb-check once you complete the next set of instructions
  2. Create and obtain an mb-check log
    1. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
    2. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, press "Enter" to accept the EULA then click "OK"
    3. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
      • This file will include the FRST logs generated from the previous set of instructions
      • Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

@KoreanTea

Please try the steps below

  1. Press Windows Key + R to bring up the run dialog
  2. In the dialog window, type certmgr.msc and click Ok
  3. In the window that comes up, on the left side, double click Untrusted Certificates so you can see the folders beneath it
  4. If a Certificate folder exists, click it
  5. Delete any certificates on the right side of the window that have Malwarebytes in the name
  6. Reboot and attempt a reinstall

It worked. I installed the software but i can't open it. It still has a "This app has been blocked for your protection" when i try to run it.

Hello @KoreanTea,

Could you try booting into safe mode for me and seeing if Malwarebytes opens. If it does, perform a scan to see if there are any infections present. Make sure to enable rootkit scanning as well. (Open Malwarebytes > Settings > Protection > Toggle "scan for rootkits")

Still doesn't open. I display the task manager at the side to see if the program is running and every time i open it, it appears in the processes and and disappears after a few seconds.
