MWB 3.3 acting up

Recommended Posts

Thought everything going good - until today. MB does not want to load - when it does after a reboot - comes up with message, "unable to load rootkit drivers-may be root kit activity." So reboot again - loads but now cannot access net thru Chrome or Opera. After another reboot, chrome comes up but everything seems to drag. Thoughts??  Also, yesterday I changed scan schedule and today it looks like it did before the change. Thanks for any help.

It has put a "normal" scan - at start up every day. I did not schedule this. What's up with that? Thanks very much.  Can someone pls tell me how to disable this scan at startup. I don't want that. I have scheduled hyper scan to start after an hour of boot daily and threat weekly. But again this morning, it ran a threat scan when I booted.  Not sure how to proceed except to cancel the scan. Thanks.

@Dublin70 any scheduled scan should be located under Settings -> Scan Schedule. You can delete any extraneous scans there. If you want to keep the scan, but just don't want it to run on startup, open the advanced options for the scheduled scan and uncheck the "Recover missed tasks" box

As for your rootkit issue, what other security products do you have on your machine? We've identified an issue with AVIRA that can cause this symptom

I've gone to the scan schedule and removed it and replaced it with weekly threat and daily hyper. Still comes up with daily "normal" which I guess is threat. Anyway, will go to advanced as you recommend. Funny - I do have Avira on pc but I have MB3 as an exclusion. Maybe that's just for the Avira scans but nothing else. Suggestions?  Thanks for your input.

The root kit issue seems to be solved.  The scan issue however persists. It runs a 22 minute scan every morning and I don't want that. I looked under advanced options for the scan schedule and that box was already unchecked.  On the other hand, if it's a pain to get rid of the scan, can I perform other tasks while it's scanning? i.e., online?
