Applying updates taking a very long time

I HOPE MWB Premium is applying the new update so I can get out of this hell which the previous version has been on XP, but it's taking a mighty long time!  The dashboard just says "Updates: Applying" and the little green line keeps moving from left to right, but there's no sign as yet of the update completing.  How long do I need to give it?  In the meantime, I can't open any Word or Adobe Reader documents, and I need to work!

Hello @alisp,

Could you download and install Malwarebytes 3.3.1.x on top of your existing installation and let me know if you are able to update successfully with the newest version.

Well, it's installed and I've managed to open a PDF, which is better than an hour ago.  I'll leave it on overnight and see what happens ...

Fingers crossed.  Reader and Word both opening.  Now reinstalling AVG ...

Oh hell.

Now uninstalling AVG.  Things appeared to be fine until then.  MWB  self-protection is OFF, and still I can't do anything.

Try adding exclusions in AVG, it sounds like there is a conflict with AVG. You may have to reinstall Malwarebytes again if it got corrupt by the AVG installation.
