I do hope so as I had to uninstall yesterday and I have to do the same thing again today.

Did you add the exclusions listed in this thread?

Have you tried just restarting your PC as I do.

Yes I have done and it still comes up with the protection switched off, the only way I can do anything about it is uninstalling and reinstalling.  I'm having to do this once or twice a week.

I normally select 'Restart' to cure the protection problem.

But this morning I turned off the PC with the protection problem flagged up, thinking if when I use the PC again later it would reset itself as its does when doing a restart.

No the problem was still there, but selecting restart again it resets itself. Strange ??

For me simply downloading/reinstalling the latest version of Malwarebytes seemed to fix it. Didn't need to uninstall, just installed it over the top and it seemed to fix it although uninstalling might help some.

Well I set up the settings to automatically download and install any Beta versions ref:  Porthos

Did a update run to check for any kind of updates, all up to date.

And just now, its happened again 'web Protection is turned off'.........

So to be sure the Beta version is downloaded, how/where do you get it.

Thanks Porthos,

I'm sure I did this earlier when I changed my setting to allow Beta. I've done it again and all updates installed. As below showing the versions installed.

Component package version:  1.0.261

Update package version: 1.0.3392

If you are still having issues after the 261 update.....

Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues....

  1. FIRST: Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
  2. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  3. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  4. Press the "Scan" button
  5. This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
NOTE: These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you
  6. NEXT: Create and obtain an mb-check log
  7. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  8. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
  9. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
  10. Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

Hello @maltelboy

Can you please give this a try:

1. Use the mb-clean tool from here: https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean and clean up and reinstall the product.

2. Once the product is installed go to Settings/ Applications tab and click on the "Install Application Updates" button.

This should ask for a restart of the Malwarebytes product to install the latest Cu 1.0.262

Please let us know if that actually worked.

Thank you

And as process asks, copy of mb-clean txt

And now we wait ?? :)

Let us know if you Still see the issue with 1.0.262.

Sorry Guys,

Its just happened again 'Web Protection: Off'

Whether this is connected or not, KIS has done a Software update from start-up then MB came up with Web Protection: Off.

Hi Guys,

Its happened again 'Web Protection: Off'

It appears whenever KIS does any Updates.

Tuesday it did an update for its software. Today it an update for Adobe. On each occasion it turned the Web protection off.

As before if I do a 'Restart', it resets itself with the Web protection On.

Whether an additional exclusion is needed when KIS does software updates ?

Below is another Zip for you guys to check.

mb-check-results.zip

why are we getting this

Have you changed these settings in Kaspersky yet?

  • Open the Kaspersky Software.
  • Click on Settings.
  • Click on Performance on the left.
  • Uncheck Perform regular rootkit scan
    • It may also be labeled "Search for software that is intended to conceal traces of a malicious program in the system"
  • Reboot

I have found that Web Protection gets turned off whenever Kaspersky runs a Rootkit Scan. My solution is to either wait about 15 mins until the scan finishes and then start MB Web Protection or restart the machine (which effectively stops the scan).

Porthos' suggestion of changing the settings for  Rootkit Scans in Kaspersky is well worth trying.

It would be interesting to know if other AV rootkit protection procedures do the same thing.
