Opening Task Manager in Windows 10 causes massive lag / unresponsiveness

Hello,

I'm not sure if this might be a malware issue but I figure I should get it checked since it has been annoying me to no end.

I've been using Windows 10 for quite a while now but ever since a few weeks ago, perhaps due to the Windows 10 Fall Creator Update, whenever I launch the Task Manager (e.g. ctrl alt del), it will end up freezing my computer for a few minutes before I am able to get any proper feedback, such as mouse cursor moving, so any attempts to deal with an unresponsive program leads to the entire machine freezes for minutes. 

I had to install a separate program Process Hacker in order to use anything associated with the original Task Manager without the freezing issues.

I've tried the following in the hopes of diagnosing the issue.

• cmd
  • sfc /scannow
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
  • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
• ADWCleaner

Unfortunately, the issue still seems to persist in my machine with the windows 10 task manager.
