After Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Word, Excel won't open

Recommended Posts

Yes. Turning off exploit protection allows me to open Word and PowerPoint with no problem. As a better temporary workaround, I went into configuration and created exceptions for those two applications - which is opening me up to a real MS exploit potentially.

Hello @skcusime

Can you please try something for me .

1. Please go to control panel and uninstall MB 3.x product.

2. Download the latest standalone MBAE 1.11 using the following box link: https://malwarebytes.app.box.com/s/jhbmap7foenchjwna1fg8daufwekfp52

3. Once you install AE make sure you can open Word and Excel without issues.

Can you please confirm that?

Thank you.

nikhils,

After 4 weeks of trying a whole raft of things to solve this issue, I'm not 100% convinced Malwarebytes is the issue. It sure seems that way, but at this stage I'm reluctant to change anything, especially an uninstall. As you can see from the attached image, Excel failed to open exactly 8 times when first run after a boot or restart. Very strange...
