What is a lifetime, unlimited, non expiring license?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

In Aug 2015 I bought Malwarebytes anti-Malware Premium V2 from Cleverbridge. The invoice said it included a "lifetime unlimited, non-expiring, 1 PC license." When it recently stopped working and couldn't be re-activated with the Key and ID I had,  I was told:

"Lifetime is a term that means the life of the version you bought (v2), for a single PC. It doensn’t work with v3 - you need to upgrade."
I feel a bit misled. I had no idea that I would only get 2 years use out of this license. I thought I'd bought a lifetime one (like my old Pro lifetime version I was looking to replace because I missed the deadline to update it free  in 2015. )
Is what I was told definitely correct? I now have to buy a subscription to V3 as "lifetime unlimited, non-expiring, 1 PC license" doesn't update with V3 version?

Thank you for your replies. Sorry, I didn't explain very clearly--the reply I received wasn't from Cleverbridge. When I contacted them they explained that they weren't the support for software problems and sent me to Malwarebytes support. The quote was from them.

@JanetCH can you please private message me your key and I'll look into this for you? Also, if you have a ticket number where you were told that information about your key, please send that to me as well so we can follow up and make sure everyone is on the same page

Thank you. I've done that.

Yes, we will continue our conversation by PM.  You do have a Lifetime License.  You have not lost any rights to it.  What you were told by the agent from Creativemark  is in error.

A lifetime license stays good forever.  It is not tied to program version or anything of the sort.  Every customer is entitled to free program version upgrades.

The issue here is just that this license has been activated on more than one pc.   A lifetime license is just for use on one pc.

I will continue to help you by PM.   I am marking this thread for closure
