Hi there,

my computer did automatically update to version 1709 (Win10 Fall Creators Update). MWB premium was installed before. It still seems to work when I open it from the start screen of windows (dashboard is all green). But there is no symbol of MWB shown in the system tray; neither directly on the system tray, nor in the menu accessible via the little arrow. How can I fix that, or is an update in the works? Thanks a lot!

Greetings from Germany

Simon

Let us get a clean install of the current version.

We have another tool called MB-Clean which will automate the whole process for you including backing up your key and reactivating.

Tool can be found at https://downloads.malwarebytes.com/file/mb_clean

1. After downloading the tool run the tool.

2. The tool will automatically clean up the older possibly damaged installation and will ask you for a restart.

3. Restart your system and then the MB-Clean tool will prompt you to re-install the latest product.

4. Click on "Yes" to reinstall MB 3.×.

5. Now you will have the latest product installed.

Please let me know if you are still seeing issues after the latest product install.

Hi,

the reinstall worked; now I can see the tray symbol again. However, after MB-Clean executed the system restart, I was not prompted for anything; in fact, the tool didn't start by itself (as I understood it would). After manual start of the tool, it also didn't offer a reinstall of MB3; it just referred to the logfile on the desktop. I just downloaded MB3 manually, reinstalled it and put in my key.

So thanks a lot, everything is working fine now! Maybe the instructions for the use ob the MB-Clean should be updated.

Thanks for the feedback, and good to hear MB3 is working correctly for you know... The MB-Clean tool should have, after a reboot, asked you if you wanted to download the latest version and install it.  It has not worked as intended on a few computers such as yours, maybe your AV or something else blocked it from doing so.  The team is aware of this bug and are working on a fix.

Just for information about the bug with MB-Clean: Besides MB3 and Windows Defender I don't use any other AV software. It also hasn't registered in the registry under "Run" or "Run Once" in HKLM or HKCU (at least I thought it should have when it's supposed to start automatically). I just use Win10 with automatic updates on my Surface Pro4. The only autostart programs are MB3, OneDrive and Office Upload Center. Exept for the MB3 service, no non-Microsoft services are running. At least Task Manager and msconfig say so...

Just wanted to add this info. Bye!
