Malwarebytes Context Menu doesn't work anymore after W10 Fall Creators Upda

Recommended Posts

Just did the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. Some programs don't work anymore and need to be activated or installed again as Microsoft created an extra Recovery partition next to the existing one . In case of Malwarebytes Premium the Context Menu "Scan with Malwarebytes" doesn't work anymore. Removing and re-installing Malwarbytes doesn't solve the problem.

In this scenario I would try a clean re-install of MBAM (OS upgrades do seem to affect security products)

Let's try this first.... (Malwarebytes clean removal tool will backup your license information and then re-enter the license to the new install)

  1. Please follow the steps in this pinned topic to uninstall your current version of MBAM and reinstall the latest build - Malwarebytes mb-clean tool (NOTE: After uninstalling with the mb-clean tool you will be asked to reboot. Once you reboot it will ask you if you want to re-install Malwarebytes, you can select YES (it will download the latest version) or you can download the latest version manually (currently v3.2.2.2029 CU 1.0.212) to re-install from HERE)
  2. If that does not correct the issue, then please read the following and attach to your next reply the requested logs - Diagnostic Logs (after you run all the tools requested, all the logs will be combined into one log file named: mb-check-results.zip located on your Desktop (which will include the FRST logs inside the zip file))
  3. NOTE: More info about the latest Malwarebytes 3.2.2 HERE; MB 3 User Guide ONLINE; MB 3 User Guide PDF; MB 3 FAQ: Malwarebytes 3.0 - Frequently Asked Questions

Please let us know how it goes.

Thank You,

Ok thanks. Unfortunately doesn't work.

Windows Defender, although not active, is blocking Farbar Recovery Scan Tool. New Improved Smart Screen of the Windows Fall Creators Update:(? Can't go beyond that so I stopped the Windows Defender Service. Started again and the results are in the zip.file

Sorry does not work. By the way the context menu entry is in Dutch even so I have set the language to English.
Probably a remains of version 2? Language is set to English because the Dutch translation messes up the layout.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hmmm...where to begin...
1) Updated to the Win 10 Fall update (1709) 3 days ago
2) only prob I noticed at the time was 'Context Menu"
3) the usual tricks didn't fix that
4) found this thread and after checking my MB again..
I realized the 'auto update' was not working either
5) I followed advice from "firefox" & both my issues
are now corrected
6) attached are log files....if staff wants to review them
