How to run Adwcleaner from Windows 10 PE

I am running ADwcleaner from a booted Win10 PE DVD to trouble shoot an infected PC.  It seems to only scan the booted X: drive.  How do I specify the real OS C: drive or any other drive?

There seems to be no command line options to specify a different drive when run from a command line or run from  a different say USB drive.

AdwCleaner is not designed to run in the Windows PE, not many tools are. What symptoms does this computer have? Will it even boot up?  You may want to consider posting for assistance in our Malware Removal section.

Great.  I think being able to run in the PE environment would be a great plus for ADWCleaner.  In addition to running in a Win PE, the option of choosing which disk to scan would be very important.  Just scanning the booted X: drive would do no good.  You will need to be able to specify the PCs real OS boot disk.

To launch it when this is ready, you would  cd to the drive and enter the path to AdwCleaner.exe.  For example, if you have AdwCleaner on a flash drive:

At the X:> prompt, type in the word Notepad and press enter.

When Notepad opens, click File > Open and select 'Computer' so you can verify which drive letter was given to your flash drive. Jot that drive letter down, then type in that path to launch AdwCleaner.  If you have AdwCleaner on the Desktop or Downloads folder, then you would need to enter that full path (which is why anytime you are running a tool in the PE mode, it's easiest to put it on a flash drive)

For example:

f:\adwcleaner.exe

This will be a nice feature when it's ready.

Only Anti-Rootkit and MB2 can be used inside a custom PE environment until a better solution is released from MB.  They both automatically scan the C:\ when launched from within PE.  All other products currently scan X: by default..
