Real-time Web Protection turned off and will not turn on

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I started up Microsoft's Edge browser (I normally use Chrome) and a popup appeared along with a voice (yes, unexpected to say the least) over my speakers saying "Microsoft Warning Alert You have a Virus" or something close to that. I figured it was a bogus virus and used task manager to shut down Edge.

I then ran Malwarebytes full scan and then Avira full scan and each said no issues found. But then I noticed Malwarebytes was not running the real-time web protection. Since then I've tried different ways to get it running again but it will only say "STARTING" and does not say "ON".

Earlier today in the forum I saw adviser Firefox helping others with similar problem. So I followed those instructions to first download and run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and run reports and second to download MB-Check Tool and run a report.  The next step is to send in the resulting zip file (attached).

My current MWB is 3.2.2.2029  and component package 1.0.0 and update package 1.0.2988. Computer is Windows 10 64-bit.

Would Firefox or another adviser please help me with this?
