Malwarebytes removed by virus

Recommended Posts

I usually run Malwarebytes every time I end using the computer. I received a pop up from my anti virus program indicating a potential problem. Apparently it was a Trojan that came in during a search using Google. I then switched to the program list to run Malwarebytes( premium) to clean any further issues.  Much to my surprise the program was missing. searching only produced the original download I had saved when signing up for the App. Re-running the program reinstalled the Malwarebytes App.

Not sure how it was deleted but going forward I will keep a lookout for the cause or site i visit that may be the cause.

Not concerned because I run MWB very often but those who do not might do it more often.

I will be checking daily. I have never had any problems with the Malwarebytes missing a bad guy. It may be something new you will have to deal with.

The AV listed a Trojan but also did not respond to it until a sweep.

I will post any new info I find.

Thanks for the reply.

Doing some further investigation on the removal, I discovered Microsoft updates remove various applications without any notice. Not good !

Apps like Ccleaner and other tools used to check for virus and other items that will cause issues and are not Microsoft owned are targeted.
