Should I be Worried about these Hidden Folders and Files?

Hello,

Four hidden folders appeared in my documents and program files in April, and I'm not sure if they're system resource folders or malware. Tried googling for more information on what they could possibly be for but came up empty.

Could someone help me, please? It's a new Dell and I'm freaked out. (

Folder names are TSettings 19, XConfiguration248, Bconfiguration77, Cresources164), and the random files that resided therein are in the attached picture (or higher res, here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2wdgY6vFKYbUkN3Y2N0bE4wT00/view?usp=sharing).

Greetings and welcome

Those files definitely look suspicious to me, like maybe part of some kind of adware infection or something.  I would recommend following the instructions in this topic and posting the requested logs in a new topic in that area of the forums and one of our malware removal specialists will assist you directly with checking the system for any threats and getting cleaned up and in proper working order if any are found.

No worries, got it solved!

Found a thread somewhere that shared Ransomware protection by cybereason creates random things throughout your drive that detects it and stops it from spreading.

Kinda cool but it's the kinda thing they should preempt users for. Almost wiped my system voluntarily...

Ah, I see, yeah, while I see their strategy, such things can definitely be unnerving because they definitely look suspicious if you don't know what's going on.  I agree, they should inform their users better when they're using techniques such as this.

Anyway, I'm glad you worked it out and that it wasn't any sort of infection.  Take care and please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else we might be able to assist you with.
