Context menu freezing

Recommended Posts

I'm running Malwarebytes premium 3.2.2 on windows 7 x64. So far, so good. Suddenly using context menu in order to check a single file,  Malwarebytes window opens, fully blank and the Windows advice "dosn't answer" (sorry if my translation from Italian is not fair). It keeps locked continuosly, I must exit Malwarebytes from notification area, than kill mbam.exe and finally restart Malwarebytes in order to have it running, nevertheless now I miss the option to scan a single file. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hello and Welcome!

Let's try and get some logs first so the team can review them and see if they can tell what may be causing your issues....

  1. FIRST: Create and obtain Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs
  2. Download FRST and save it to your desktop
NOTE: You need to run the version compatible with your system. You can check here if you're not sure if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit
  3. Double-click to run FRST and when the tool opens click "Yes" to the disclaimer
  4. Press the "Scan" button
  5. This will product two files in the same location (directory) as FRST: FRST.txt and Addition.txt
NOTE: These two files will be collected by the MB-Check Tool and added to the zip file for you
  6. NEXT: Create and obtain an mb-check log
  7. Download MB-Check and save to your desktop
  8. Double-click to run MB-Check and within a few second the command window will open, then click "OK"
  9. This will produce one log file on your desktop: mb-check-results.zip
  10. Attach this file to your forum post by clicking on the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files..." or simply drag the file to the attachment area

Thank You,

Firefox

Thanks Firefox for your interest and quick action plan. Anyhow in the meantime I've downloaded and installed the up to date version of Malwarebytes, over the former one. Now the context menu works, so my problem seems to be over, so far. Let me know if you are still interested to the log files you suggested, I assume the new installation has changed something. Thanks so much anyway.

Regards, Dino

Glad to hear that solved your issue... I was trying to gather the logs so the team can review them.  Sometime gathering logs will help the team in isolating any potential bugs, collection of the logs helps to correct such bugs.

After the logs I was going to suggest a re-install like you already did.  No worries for now as the issue is resolved, it if continues don't hesitate to reply to this topic with your logs.

Thanks again.
