I have the exact same issue.  Running paid version of 3.1.2.  Every morning when I boot up my laptop it tells me its out of date.  Then it takes me several times to manually update it.  Most of the time it just sits there trying to update.  It eventually goes through.   I have 100Mbps Internet so bandwidth is not an issue.  My settings are set to auto update.  Its set to check every hour.    Sometimes it will update on its own.  Also I always shut the laptop down after using. Never use the sleep option.  This is an HP 9489m running Windows 10

Can you try installing the latest 3.2.2.2029 over your existing product and let me know if that worked.

Just download the latest installer from : https://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mb3

Run the installer on top of your existing product. No need to uninstall.

Still having exact th same issue here with MBAM 3.2.2 latest version on all 3 machines I have licenses for. It's unlikely that all 3 installations are screwed. The updater just doesn't check first if it should download and install an update before reporting out-of-date. If I have check for updates it should NEVER report out of date except download fails. Somehow this check is very badly implemented. It should be delayed until updater function is finished
