so … essentially,  upgrading  to  mb3 (free)  version  means  we  no  longer  can  use  mbae  and  mbarw … do  i  understand  this  correctly?

Yes, you understand this correctly. The only way to have access to all the protections in Ver 3 is to purchase it.
