Malwarebytes tray application

mbytes tray app is showing on my alt+tab on every startup, closing it on my alt+tab closes the app that shows in my hidden icons.

Hello and Welcome...

This is by design right now, the reason it shows up in the Alt+Tab screen is because of a fix they did.... the are working on fixing this Alt=Tab issue as well and will release the fix in a future build... for now we have to put up with it.  You need to leave it open in the Alt+Tab screen to allow Malwarebytes to continue to work properly.

I've just installed 3.2.2 & this Tray app keeps showing

Don't understand Alt+Tab screen would  you explain please.?

Also I have AVG Anti Virus does this tray App mean Malwarebytes is running all of the time & is there a clash with AVG?

If M/Warebytes is running all of the time, how do I stop it?

If you just installed it, more than likely you have the 14 Day trial running so yes the Tray app will be there until you exit or the trial expires.

you could hold Alt-Tab to switch between open programs, and then release Alt-Tab to switch to that program.

AVG and Malwarebytes should be fine running together without any issues.

You can either Right Click and exit from the Tray App.  If you don't want to stay on the 14 Day trial, you have to go to the Account Tab and select End Trial.

Is tab a key on keyboard?

1. Hold down on the Alt Key
2. Hit the Tab Key (keep hitting the Tab Key to switch between open apps on your computer)

Anyway I've been into Accounts & stopped the trial

Does this mean I can now use M/Warebytes when I like as a free version?

Now that you ended the trial, you are now only using the FREE version.

Oh thanks, I understand, you can have program icons in this part of the Task Bar & select the programs from there, correct?

I just use the programs that I've set up in the Task Bar, other than the hidden icons in the Tray.

So how would I get program icons into the Tray?

Have you rebooted the computer? If MB3 is still showing in the taskbar it will show in the Alt Tab section as well.

No, I did not reboot.

MB3 is not in the Taskbar, it's just on the Desktop, which is fine by me.

I'm closing down now so assume when I start up tomorrow the Tray Ap square will not reappear?

OK, so I've opened up the Computer today, the M/Warebytes Tray Ap white Square still shows in Task View.

As stated before I've stopped the trial in my Account, so what is causing this?

Also how do I clear it or should I just leave it?

If Malwarebytes is running (in free or premium), the tray application should be running. It is normal and there's no way to get rid of it at this time without fully shutting down Malwarebytes

I did not think M/W/Bytes was running, if it is what is it doing?

I just do a scan every week to ensure no problems & I thought this to be the limit of its activity.

I use AVG as Anti Virus Software.

Looking in "Task Manager" I note that M/B service is stated, using 8.1mB

I have never seen this Tray Application until I installed the latest version 2 days ago, question why?

Could you please explain to me what is happening!!

Malwarebytes 3 will always stay running in the background unless you specifically close it, even in free mode. This is different behavior than our previous product which would stop running if you closed it while in free mode. You can close Malwarebytes entirely by right clicking the icon in the system tray next to the clock and choosing Quit Malwarebytes.

The M/W icon is in my Hidden icons within the tray.

As I have AVG running as Anti Virus will this clash with MW & give problems rather than benefits?

You only get the premium benefits if you have the trial or paid version. The free version has no real time protection

I have MWb free I have declined the free trial for premium version

You state that MWb is running in the background & I can see by selecting the icon that I have not quited it.

So what is it doing whilst running in the background?
