BitTorrent put Malware in their free version of the app for over a year now (same with the other app they own and develop)

The malware will hijack Safari and Chrome, and many other browsers, and if I recall it will change some network settings.  I first found out when I tried to update BitTorrent above version 7.4.1 (all versions of BitTorrent above 7.4.1 have malware in the installer) and then I found some browsers hijacked.  I had used the Safe Mace guide

It was the only thing I could fine 6 years about about spigot and how to remove it.

 
Last I looked there was 7 items being used to download software completely unrelated to the BitTorrent application.
